Johnny Alucard
|
Tragedy
struck this weekend at the first 'All-Vampire' House Party
when young vampire Johnny Alucard fell victim to an hors
d'oeuvre containing a lethal dose of garlic. |
|
"It's
not like we didn't specify 'no garlic' or anything"
said survivor Sanguina Nibbles.
"I
knew we should have gone with the usual blood-feast.
Johnny was only 122. He had his whole un-life ahead
of him"

|
| Caterer
Pierre Le Reynard was somewhat less than contrite: |
| "When
they requested no garlic, naturellement I did not think
that they meant no garlic at all! Who would believe such
a thing! How can I be expected to prepare Terrine de Lievre
aux Noisettes without garlic? It is ridiculous!" |

The
party passed without further incident, although Pierre
was later reported to have quipped:
"It's a good job they didn't order steak, n'est
ce pas?"

Issue 13 poll results: Poll choices should be kept short
The
readers have once again let their preferences be known by
voting narrowly in favour of short poll choices.

The Readers Decide
|
| Should
poll choices be kept really short? : [631 votes

|
| Yes,
I agree: brevity is, after all, the soul of wit. Poll
choices of extreme word-length only confuse and dismay
potential voters. Recent research has demonstrated that,
without a doubt, a poll that lacks concision, lacks voters

Sims
fan completes House Party in record time

sLiMbOyFaT:
"Been there, done that"
Sims
fan sLiMbOyFaT was celebrating in style today after completing
the House Party expansion pack in a record 14 days.
sLiMbOyFaT (22) announced his stunning achievement in the
TSR forum to delighted accolades from his fellow Sim fans.
In an exclusive interview with The Sim he said:
"I just went all out for it. I pre-ordered as soon as Maxis
announced House Party, and tracked the order on the UPS website.
As soon as it arrived, I installed it and played non-stop
for 14 days"
Surviving on a diet of pizza and Dr Pepper's, sLiMbOyFaT described
the feeling when the 'Game Over' message finally flashed onto
the screen:
"Indescribable" he articulated, "Like, wow!"
Maxis have since confirmed that sLiMbOyFaT had indeed exhausted
all the opportunities in the new add-on, but emphasised that
most fans would take between 4 to 6 months "with normal play".
"We don't recommend that fans play for long periods without
a break" a spokeswoman advised "Players should try to restrict
their Sims gaming to eight hours a day or less, and try to
eat at regular intervals"

Sim
Drew Carey: 'Programmable, versatile, cheap'
|
Warner
Bros. today announced the termination of contracts
for the entire cast of The
Drew Carey Show, including Drew Carey
himself.
In
a shock announcement, a WB spokeswoman confirmed:
"We discovered that we can shoot the
whole show using Sims, and still get the same
ratings"
|
"Basically,
we can continue to pay thousands of dollars per episode
in wages to the cast, or buy The Sims for $39.99 from
Amazon.com"
"What
would you do?"

The cast in happier days
By
moving the entire production onto the PC/Sims platform,
WB not only hope to save on salary costs, but also
on sets, location shoots and scriptwriting.
"Sims
are programmable, versatile and above all, cheap"
explained executive producer Robert Borden.
"If
we wanted to shoot one episode in a wild-west theme,
for example, we don't go to wardrobe: we just download
a whole load of free stuff from SimBolix.
It doesn't cost us a dime"
"We
don't even have to spend money on scripts, since no-one
can understand what the Sims are saying anyway"
Warner
Bros. were tight-lipped about their plans for other
shows, but Celebrity
Sims have reported major download activity over
the last few days.

Will Wright announces The Sims 3D
Maverick
genius Will Wright today announced the new sequel to The
Sims: The Sims 3D.
"The
Sims 3D takes The Sims way beyond mere computer simulation"
he announced "With The Sims 3D, you will be able
to create and manage any scenario you can imagine. This time,
there truly are no limits"

The Sims 3D: Another Maxis breakthrough
In
a radical departure for Maxis, the new game will not require
a PC or Mac, but instead will run on a table- or floor-based
platform.
|
The
base gamepack will contain one ready-made 3D residential
unit, one family, and a selection of furniture. Players
will be able to purchase expansion packs as families
expand, make new friends and acquire new furnishings.
|

|
Once
again Maxis have made the game fully customisable and
they fully expect third-party add-ons to be available
soon, by mail-order or from specialist retail outlets
such as Toys 'R Us.

In
his closing remarks, Will Wright commented: "Like all
great ideas, this one is so simple. I'm just amazed no-one
thought of it before"
'That's
Lies': A tribute *

ProfiSoft: We help you
out.
By selling your stuff.
ProfiSoft,
popular creators of the unofficial Sims expansion pack 'That's
Lies', have refuted claims that their product profits
unfairly at the expense of Sims webmasters.
The
CD, selling in Europe for around the same price as House
Party, features over 3,000 files taken without permission
from Seven Deadly
Sims, The Sims
Resource, Dr
Frankensims, the Well
Dressed Sim and others.
Profisoft claim that the CD actually helps websites by "actually
markedly increased web traffic with many of the sites concerned
and most contributors now appreciate this fact"
The
Sim would therefore like to announce a tribute
to Profisoft. Starting today, we will keep track of all
the extra traffic reported by webmasters 'contributing'
to That's Lies.
